As a documentary filmmaker and visual anthropologist, I am interested in understanding and expanding the intersection between visual ethnography and film as an art practice. I am currently exploring the unique opportunities that feminist documentary film approaches offer, resulting in vulnerable or emotional ethnographic knowledge.
My research is interdisciplinary across the arts and social sciences. Using practice as research methods in film, sound and photography my research uses feminist thought and criticism to explore women’s experience of place, motherhood, ageing, identity and mental wellbeing.
