New digital school up for Leading Technology/Digital Innovator prize
The School of Digital Arts (SODA) has been shortlisted for Leading Technology / Digital Innovator at the This Is Manchester Awards 2022.
Designed to celebrate Manchester’s most talented individuals and businesses, the Awards are split into 18 categories that highlight the contribution made to the Manchester community and beyond.
The categories focus on fashion, entertainment, sports, tech, digital, hospitality, food and drink and the nighttime economy.
Opened in 2021, SODA is a £35m investment by Manchester Met into the workspaces, networks, teaching and research that will drive the next generation of creative content.
The School offers courses that span film, animation, UX, design, photography, sound design, gaming and Al. Alongside spaces to collaborate; the specialist facilities include a UX Suite, film studios, green screens, edit suites, sound, music & production studios, a cinema and a gallery.
Commenting on the Award shortlist, Professor Toby Heys, Head of SODA, said: “It’s a great honour to have been shortlisted in the Leading Technology / Digital Innovator category at the This is Manchester Awards. The nomination is testament to the hard work of our fantastic colleagues in getting us to the point where SODA is well equipped to provide not only the best digital education in the region, but in the country as well.”
The Awards will take place on Thursday 3 November at the Hilton Manchester Deansgate.
